Creekside Market is one of Charleston's newest African Bookstores. The store opened its doors up last month at 137 Liberty Hall Road, the same road as the Burbage Meat Market. The store has hundreds of African books for children and adults, discussing history, culture, culinary techniques and more! Creekside Market also offers other items such as crystals, sage, irish sea moss and natural body products all in Goose Creek.
Although it was once a convenience store, selling cigarettes and alcohol, the same owner has decided to offer the community the opportunity to reconnect to their roots at their convenience.
Many are shocked when they enter to by cigars or beer, but in turn leave smiling with books for their children or themselves.
In the wake of Nipsey Hussle, a celebrity rapper and great advocate of Black owned business ventures and Dr. Sebi, this type of store to reinforce our culture is very necessary. The customers walk into Creeksode Market with joy, knowing that they have gained access to a new treasure and resource of knowledge here in Charleston.
